SmartPhone Method for Memorizing Bible Verses

So who doesn’t absolutely LOVE their SmartPhone? I know I do! It’s become even more important than my purse! In all honesty, it’s sometimes too important. I definitely have to bring in the addictive reins some days.

But today I want to share with you a very positive use of your SmartPhone. Now I have an IPhone, and I really don’t know a lot about technology. I don’t even know which IPhone I have! So I’m guessing this will work with other SmartPhones, but I’m not sure. You’ll have to check.

I have two plastic index card boxes that are stuffed full of Bible verses. I have used he “index card method” of writing down and memorizing Bible verses for years, and I still use this method sometimes. I tape them to my bathroom mirrors. I fold them so that they sit up on the kitchen table. I have even kept them in my purse.

As time has gone on, however, I wanted a method that was a little easier to manage than carrying around an index card or a stack of index cards. Since my SmartPhone is always with me, I came up with a SmartPhone Method for Memorizing Bible verses.

First, I go to my Bible app. I use YouVersion. I find the verse I want to memorize, and I highlight it using the highlighting tool. It looks like this:

 Memory Verse Post 1

Then, I take a picture of the verse on my IPhone screen. Using an IPhone, you press down the button at the top and the middle button at the bottom middle (you know, the one to refresh your phone) at the same time. You’ll see it blink, and if your volume is on, you’ll hear it click, too.

After that I open my “Photo” folder on my phone. It looks like this:

Memory Verse Post 4

In my Photo folder I’ve created other folders, and one of them is a “Memory Verses” folder. If you haven’t done this, then create a folder now.

Memory Verse Post 2

I open my “Memory Verses” folder, and click the + to add a photo. Then, I just add that photo of the memory verse I just took a picture of.

Memory Verse Post 3

In this folder, you can swipe through all of your memory verses to review. So say you’re waiting at the doctor’s office or waiting for a friend to arrive for coffee, you can just open your Photo folder and review your memory verses. That’s a lot better use of time than playing on Facebook!

What is your favorite method for memorizing Bible verses?
