Weekend Prayers and Links

As I write this I hear freezing rain beating the window panes. This is, I think, is the fourth time we’ve gotten some form of frozen precipitation, and this southern girl is beyond over it! It could turn spring the day after Christmas, and I’d be perfectly happy. I’m ready to bring my flip-flops out of hibernation.

I hope you are warm wherever you are and preferably by the sunshine! I think we are actually going to get some of that this weekend. The high Saturday is 62! So that will be a little reprieve as I continue to dream of the warm days to come.

You all, sweet readers, have been on my mind all week. You know how people say that, or they say, “I’ll pray for you”, but you don’t really know if they mean it? Well, I mean it! You’ve been in my thoughts and prayers all week.

Weekend Prayers and Links for Single Women

A Lot of Prayer

This weekend I give you a verse that comes from the feeling that you all are exhausted. Exhausted from the waiting. Exhausted from the unknown. Exhausted from the hopes and dreams.

I know you are exhausted because I remember saying to some girlfriends once that the worse thing about being single is that you literally have no idea what next year or five years looks like for you. I mean, no one technically knows, but at least when you’re married with kids you know that you’ll be doing the family thing, if nothing else, as long as there are no tragedies.

And it’s utterly exhausting. It really is. You have to make big decisions by yourself. You have to wonder, “Should I buy the house? But what if I meet someone?” or “Is it really wise to invest in a lot of home decor? What if I meet someone and he hates it?” The list goes on.

But regardless, I’m here to speak truth to you, and that truth is that you have to persevere. You just have to. Really there is no other choice. Well, I guess there is another choice, but it will lead you down a road of despair and regret that you don’t want to be on, trust me. So don’t take matters into your own hands. Don’t just go out with that guy because “at least he’s someone”. Don’t just skip church because “it’s so uncomfortable”. Don’t eat Ben and Jerry’s every night simply because no one sees you.

Instead persevere.

However, perseverance will not be possible without God. It’s just too hard, and only the Holy Spirit can do it for you. So this weekend I’m praying that you preserve. Not by yourself, but with God holding your hand.

Please leave your specific prayer requests in the comments or on FB or email me. Even if it’s unknown, still leave a comment because I like to pray for you by name.
