Weekend Prayers and Links

I know you’ll understand this feeling.

This past November I had a miscarriage. The baby was due in July. This past week two of my friends told me they are expecting babies. Their babies are due in August.

There are a rush of emotions that bombard you when you receive news of blessing after your same blessing became a tragedy. In my younger days, jealousy and envy would have been a part of those emotions. (How many bridesmaids dresses do I still own?) And I think that’s natural. Not good, but natural.

However, this time I can honestly say that it wasn’t jealousy or envy that I felt. Instead it was a barrage of questions, the first being:

What are you trying to teach me, Lord?

Psalm 119-147

You see, God speaks to me in repetitious patterns. So when I find out two friends are having babies in the same month, one month after my baby was due, I take notice. And it didn’t even stop there. Last night a friend, over text, counseled me and reminded me of lies we sometimes believe. Those same lies were brought up in Bible study this morning.

God is certainly trying to get my attention, but what is He saying? What does He want me to hear?

A Lot of Prayer

Nothing is lost on God. He says that ALL things work out for His glory and His purposes. Do you believe that? I mean, do you really, really believe that? Because sometimes I don’t.

How could the death of an unborn baby bring good?

I don’t know yet, but I know that He’s up to something. I’m going to keep asking “What?” until He reveals it.

What circumstance in your life do you need to ask the question, “God, what are you trying to teach me?”

And a Little Encouragement

Here’s some great reads from around the web!

I was accepted to be a part of the Pulling Back the Shades book tour with Dr. Juli Slattery and Dannah Gresh, so I will be sharing and writing a lot about the book and the reasons the other book, Fifty Shades of Grey, breaks God’s heart and hurts women. Read all of my posts on this topic here.

How Do You Know When You’re Ready to Start Dating? a video by Matt Chandler (Believe it or not, I get this question a lot not from teenagers but from women in their 20’s and 30’s who wonder if they should be dating. This is a must watch!)
