Weekend Prayers and Links

Did you know that turkeys (like the ones you eat at Thanksgiving) fly? And no, this isn’t the beginning of a joke even though now I can laugh about it, a little. Well, I didn’t know that turkeys fly until one flew into our windshield this past weekend as we headed home from Georgia. We were going full speed ahead on the interstate. If you’ve ever wanted to know what a flying turkey can do to your windshield, here’s a glimpse.

Praise God it wasn’t worse, we were able to get over without losing control or hitting any other cars, and we’re all okay. But boy! Nothing like a flying turkey coming at you!

So here’s to flying turkeys and another weekend! It’s been kinda quiet with the prayer requests the past few weeks, but I’m still praying for you! Leave your request or just an “unspoken” either in the comments or on the Facebook page.

A Lot of Prayer

To say that this past week was heavy laden is an understatement. Do you ever have those times when you’re just being hit on all sides, and you can’t even look up for being hit again? That was my week. Over and over again I prayed this verse back to God. Actually, I mainly just prayed the first three words, “Come to me.”

I’m not the best at memorizing scripture. It’s a discipline I definitely like to develop, and I’m working on, but it doesn’t come easily. However, I’m amazed at how God brings verses to my mind right when I need them – just like this one. I didn’t need to pray the entire verse in order for God to receive it. No, all I needed was what He gave me, and that was “Come to me.”

This weekend practice praying Matthew 11:28-29 back to God. Anytime you feel anxiety just whisper in your mind (or out loud), “Come to me, Lord.” I assure you He will.

And a Little Encouragement

Here are a few posts I thought were interesting this week. You may not know this about me because I try to keep it under wraps (insert smiley face), but I enjoy hot topics in church world (and outside of church world). I’m also fairly opinionated. I usually don’t feel well enough educated to write publicly about my opinions, but they’re there. So this is the reason I found these interesting. So now to get your blood boiling either one way or the other . . .
