Do you ever feel like the brokenness of the world is barreling down on your shoulders, but there’s nothing you can do about it? And even though the brokenness has nothing to do with you this time, actually from your seat life’s pretty good, you still feel like some of it’s your responsibility – like you should bear some of the weight to take it off of the ones who are breaking?
That’s how I’ve felt this week. First there was more news about Iraq, then Robin William’s suicide, and finally an email I received from a young reader who is struggling with the aftermath of an abortion and broken family. And there’s nothing I can do – except for the one thing I did.

I cried out for Jesus to please come and get us.
For the sake of the children and women in Iraq. For the sake of the people everywhere tormented by thoughts of suicide. For the young women in bondage over sin. For the ones who are so desperately lonely and fear they will be for the rest of their lives.
Jesus, please, come back! We’re ready! We want to see your face! Come and rescue us today!
And I prayed.
It’s okay to ask Jesus to come back and rescue us, and to come back soon, did you know that? Actually, Jesus tells us to pray for His return in Matthew 6:10 when He says, “Your kingdom come . . . ”
Then, Revelation 22:20 says, “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Surely I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”
A Lot of Prayer
So that’s my prayer this weekend. “Come, Lord Jesus!” Will you join me?
This weekend I am praying for you. Please leave your requests in the comments or on the Facebook page.
And a Little Encouragement
Here are a few links from around the web. Again, I didn’t do much online reading this week. The first is a podcast by John Piper I’m begging you to listen to! It’s about online dating!
Is Online Dating Good for Christians? – a podcast by John Piper
What You Need to Know about What’s Happening in Iraq – from Relevant and by Jeremy Courtney

I’d love for you to join me in these other places, too!
Of course there’s Facebook where I post short thoughts, stories, and share posts.
And there’s Twitter where I post quotes, more serious stuff, and share posts.
There’s Instagram which is probably the most fun because you see crazy behind-the-scenes pictures of my life.
