  • Rebecca Halton :: An Interview with a Single Woman Making a Difference

Today we kick-off our 31 Days of Interviews with Single Women. Read the names of all the single women I will be interviewing throughout this series in this post – 31 Days of Interviews with Single Women Making a Difference.

I’m so excited to introduce to you today Rebecca Halton! Rebecca writes,

I’ve finally reached a point of happy and willing surrender. I’ve tried almost every “trick,” in the single-Christian-woman book, and now I couldn’t be happier about leaving it up to God and His timing. I need it to be all Him, because I’ve seen what happens when it’s all me!

Rebecca is a 30 year-old professional freelance writer and published author. Her story includes having an affair with a married man in her twenties which led to her first book Words from the Other Woman. Rebecca also offers coaching services to fellow writers (me being one of them!!). Let’s read more about Rebecca!

  • 31 Days of Interviews with Single Women Making a Difference

When I was in college I read this book called Lady in Waiting. It was the first book I ever read about being single. I still have it. Sentences are highlighted, starred, and noted throughout. Of course in college it was easy to be a lady in waiting because I didn’t think I’d be waiting that long. However, as my twenties began, and continued, waiting was no longer easy. All those highlighted sentences became nothing but hopeless ideals I didn’t live up to.

  • Weekend Prayers and Links

On Thursdays I go to this moms group at my church. After years and years of wanting to be a mom – like since I was five, no joke – I have surprisingly found that I don’t fit in well at moms groups. I don’t know if they think I don’t fit in as much as on the inside I don’t feel like I fit in.

The first moms group I tried out we did crafts. There is nothing at all wrong with crafts. Sometimes I get in a crafty mood. But after being with my baby all day the last thing I want to do is crafts. Instead I want to go in, plop down, veg out and talk – to real, live adult women about real life things.

I’m not sure if this is a result of my longer-than-desired season of singleness, and now being an older mom, but my perspective is just a little different. It’s almost like I’m now a single woman trapped in a married woman’s body. Does that sound crazy?

  • Your Daughter and Fifty Shades of Grey

You always hear that a baby changes things. Sure she changes your sleeping habits, your social life, and your marriage. However, I never realized how much my daughter would change what I think about, worry about, and become an advocate of. My daughter has changed the way I see the world. She has changed the way I see femininity and womanhood. She’s changed the way I see sexuality. And most importantly she’s changed the way I see God’s view of all of these things.

  • 3 Ways to Find a Mentor

The one piece of advice I give all single women is to find a mentor. Then, be teachable and listen to her. I say this for several reasons.

Singleness by nature is isolating. You spend a lot of time alone, especially if you live alone. However, God did not intend for us to live in isolation whether we are single or married. We are created for community.
