Did you know that turkeys (like the ones you eat at Thanksgiving) fly? And no, this isn’t the beginning of a joke even though now I can laugh about it, a little. Well, I didn’t know that turkeys fly until one flew into our windshield this past weekend as we headed home from Georgia. We were going full speed ahead on the interstate. If you’ve ever wanted to know what a flying turkey can do to your windshield, here’s a glimpse.

Praise God it wasn’t worse, we were able to get over without losing control or hitting any other cars, and we’re all okay. But boy! Nothing like a flying turkey coming at you!

So here’s to flying turkeys and another weekend! It’s been kinda quiet with the prayer requests the past few weeks, but I’m still praying for you! Leave your request or just an “unspoken” either in the comments or on the Facebook page.

This week I shared with you this verse from Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” And did you know that I  ended up having to heavily, very heavily, fall back on remembering this truth?

There are a few fears I have about writing for you here. One is that you’ll think I’m irrelevant because I’m not single anymore. Women who pretended to understand used to annoy me, too, and I don’t want to be one of them. The other is that you’ll think that just because I’m married my life is perfect. I used to think this too. There was no convincing me that someone’s married life was harder than mine. But the simply truth is that life doesn’t stop when you get married. It keeps being hard, and sometimes it gets harder.

I have a few current situations that I am praying Hebrews 11:1 over – heavy situations. Hebrews 11:1 hasn’t yet become a verse of the past. So today as you continue to reflect on Hebrews 11:1, I want you to know that you will always have things you’re hoping for – always – and there will always be things not seen. The reason for this is because we’re not in heaven yet. This is not our home. And our hearts will continue to cry out in homesickness until we go home. I do know how you feel. Not as a past memory but as a present sting. I’m praying for you this weekend. Please leave your requests below or on Facebook or Twitter. Even if it’s “unspoken”, I love to know your name.

Okay, so how long have you gone without power in your home? This past weekend we were without power from Friday till Sunday because of a snow/ice storm! Now, I don’t even like snow. My motto is “the hotter, the better”. So when ice takes my heater, I’m not happy.

I tried to keep reminding myself that no electricity is a first-world problem. I remember when I went on a mission trip to Africa a few years ago they shared that power and water outages for days are common during the wet season. The full-time missionaries living there would have to get up in the middle of the night to wash their clothes and do other housework. Clearly one weekend without power is nothing to complain about. Right?

As I write this I hear freezing rain beating the window panes. This is, I think, is the fourth time we’ve gotten some form of frozen precipitation, and this southern girl is beyond over it! It could turn spring the day after Christmas, and I’d be perfectly happy. I’m ready to bring my flip-flops out of hibernation.

I hope you are warm wherever you are and preferably by the sunshine! I think we are actually going to get some of that this weekend. The high Saturday is 62! So that will be a little reprieve as I continue to dream of the warm days to come.

You all, sweet readers, have been on my mind all week. You know how people say that, or they say, “I’ll pray for you”, but you don’t really know if they mean it? Well, I mean it! You’ve been in my thoughts and prayers all week.

Ahhhh! How has your week been? Mine has been crazy busy! I hate saying that because it’s not supposed to be that way, but this week was one of those weeks. I’ve been cleaning out cabinets and drawers and you would not believe how much junk stuff I have. I mean three boxes of Arbonne products that have never been opened but are at least five years old. I’m so embarrassed! I’m actually not much of pack-rat compared to umm . . . my husband . . . but you wouldn’t have known it this week.
