Recently I’ve been beating myself up over a question that parades through my mind regularly.

“How did you let that happen?”

I think back on my life past, and I ask myself this question about many situations. I go down the mental path of different scenarios of what I could have done – but I didn’t.

Sometimes my regret gets out of control. I just dwell on the past so much that it becomes an obsession.

I know you’ll understand this feeling.

This past November I had a miscarriage. The baby was due in July. This past week two of my friends told me they are expecting babies. Their babies are due in August.

There are a rush of emotions that bombard you when you receive news of blessing after your same blessing became a tragedy. In my younger days, jealousy and envy would have been a part of those emotions. (How many bridesmaids dresses do I still own?) And I think that’s natural. Not good, but natural.

However, this time I can honestly say that it wasn’t jealousy or envy that I felt. Instead it was a barrage of questions, the first being:

What are you trying to teach me, Lord?

  • Bible Study Options for the New Year

As the year winds down, hopefully you’re starting to think about your Bible study options for the new year. There are hundreds of ways to spend your time with God – reading and praying – and no one way is better than the other. What’s important is that you regularly spend time reading the Bible. In my opinion that’s at least five days a week. Of course, every day is even better.

If you’re thinking about taking the One Year No Dating Challenge, this is so important for you! The One Year No Dating Challenge is about growing your relationship with Jesus. It is impossible to grow your relationship with Jesus without being in the Bible regularly.

  • Are Christmas Cards Worth It?

As a single woman I always felt silly sending Christmas cards.

I had a dozen reasons why I shouldn’t – they cost money, they take time, and then of course the reason that was my reason for not doing a lot of other things too – Christmas cards are for people with families.

Are Christmas Cards Worth It for Single Women

Today it’s Single Saturdays at Woman to Woman Ministries, and I’m sharing my answer to the question “Are Christmas Cards Worth It for Single Women?” Head over there to read more, and don’t forget to leave a comment. Do you send Christmas cards to your family and friends?

On Thursdays I go to this moms group at my church. After years and years of wanting to be a mom – like since I was five, no joke – I have surprisingly found that I don’t fit in well at moms groups. I don’t know if they think I don’t fit in as much as on the inside I don’t feel like I fit in.

The first moms group I tried out we did crafts. There is nothing at all wrong with crafts. Sometimes I get in a crafty mood. But after being with my baby all day the last thing I want to do is crafts. Instead I want to go in, plop down, veg out and talk – to real, live adult women about real life things.

I’m not sure if this is a result of my longer-than-desired season of singleness, and now being an older mom, but my perspective is just a little different. It’s almost like I’m now a single woman trapped in a married woman’s body. Does that sound crazy?
