  • Have You Ever Felt Your Heart Break?

Today’s post is especially for my single sisters. It’s about that dreaded word. Heartbreak. The physical aching you feel in your chest when someone you like or love decides the feeling isn’t mutual.

I have had my share of heartbreak. From the everyday crush to a four year relationship, I knew heartbreak. I was the girl who fell hard and fast. Unfortunately I was rarely the heartbreaker. But I never got used to the ache.

I wish I could meet you for coffee and share with you the countless heartbreaks I experienced. Some are filled with regret and some are filled with, “What was I thinking?”, but nonetheless most of them left an impression that I haven’t forgotten.

Today I am over at More to Be sharing with you what you can do when your heart breaks. I can’t tell you I always did these things, but as I grew I tried to remember most of them.

So join me at More to Be, and be sure to share in the comments your tried and true practices for dealing with heartbreak (even if it does involve a half-gallon of Moose Tracks ice cream and your favorite romantic comedy)!

Do you think it’s possible for God to honor His promise to give you the desires of heart even though your desire for a husband and family isn’t fulfilled yet?

  • The Unwanted Kind of Encouragement

I’ll never forget that night. I was about 28 years old. Single. And at a Bunko party with all married women.

All was good until the conversation turned to things that single girls are precluded from – you know, married things.

As the well-meaning but under-sensitive woman voiced my preclusion out loud I knew that my soul was out and all over my forehead.

“Yes, I am different from you, and really, all I want is to be you.”

Today I am honored to be a guest writer at Sweet Blessing with Jenifer Metzger. I am sharing How Not to Encourage a Single Woman.

Will you join me there as I continue my story of this lonely night at Bunko and learn what single women truly need as encouragement?

  • Breaking the Cycle of a Single Woman’s Tarnished Past

The years right before being set free from the nest are crucial for a young girl. They’re the years that can bring her a lifetime of peace or set her up with unwanted consequences. Consequences that she did not mean to choose, but that simply came from not having Truth to guide her.

    Truth about her worth.

    Truth about her beauty.

    Truth about her purpose.

Soon she thinks that there has to be a better way. But the voices of untruth continue to speak to her, and she has nothing to fight them with.

    Voices that say,

“He’s too good for you. Your past is too bad.”

“You will never be happy alone.”

“If you don’t do this or this or this, then you will never get a man.”

“I’m tainted. A good, Christian man would never want me.”

“I’ll never find someone who will accept all I’ve done.”

So she continues to believe them, and the cycle goes on.

Many single women find themselves in a cycle of defeat over their tarnished pasts.

But you can make a break-through.

Today I am honored to be a guest writer at Awakened Anew where I share how single women can break the cycle of defeat from their pasts. Will you join me there?

  • Who Gives Us the Desires of Our Hearts?

When I was single there was one verse in the Bible that I hung onto as my hope.

“Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

My biggest desire was to meet a man, get married, and of course, live happily ever after.

In order to make that happen I did everything I thought was required of me to “delight in the Lord”.

However, I still pined after something that wasn’t mine or God’s for me. And I still did not feel peace.

Today I am honored to be a guest writer at A Little Missionary Girl All Grown Up answering the question, “Who should give us the desires of our hearts?” Please join me there and share your thoughts in the comments!
