  • When You Want the Baby More Than the Marriage

I did not grow up on a steady diet of princesses, castles, and the hope of prince charming. We never went to Disney World. I didn’t own princess costumes nor did I have princess dolls. I rarely watched fairy tale movies. Furthermore, I can’t ever remember a time I put white tulle on my head and marched to “Here Comes the Bride.”

This wasn’t some calculated move by my mom, either. It just wasn’t my thing. Instead I played with Barbies (which will be another post for another day). But mostly I played with dolls.

I wouldn’t accept just any doll, though. No, my dolls had to be completely plastic, no fabric allowed, and I only used real diapers and real bottles with them.

  • Young or Wise? Which Wife Would You Rather Be?

This past October I hosted a 31 days series called 31 Days of Interviews with Single Women Making a Difference.

There was one woman I interviewed who is 34 years old. When I asked her this question, “What is your biggest pet peeve about the way single women are perceived?” This is how she answered:

“I would say that my biggest pet peeve is that once you’ve hit 30, you’ve reached your expiration date. If God can open up Sarah’s womb way past her ‘prime’ years, then God can bring my husband at any age. I hope to be a wise wife not a young one.” ~ Liv Migenes

  • When Your Singleness Doesn’t Match Your Convictions

The hardest parts for me about being single were the assumptions people made. For instance, they assumed because I wasn’t married I didn’t want to be married – that I was purposely delaying marriage to build a career or find myself or have fun or whatever. When in fact, nothing could have been further from the truth. My singleness didn’t match my convictions.
