Hey there! Well, it’s been a while. Life got crazier than usual this summer and something had to give. My blog gave. Along with some other things.
This summer we moved from North Carolina back to our home state of Georgia. We’re thrilled to be home even though we left behind friends we love and nine years of life-changing life.

As a recap, when we moved to North Carolina I was a one-month wife. That right there is enough stress without throwing an across states move in the mix. There was finding a house and a job and a church. All of it. Then there was the heart-transplant. Then the death of my mom. Then the baby. Then the miscarriage. Then the other baby. Then the death of John’s mom. Along with lots of in-between. Writing it all down makes it sounds miserable. But it wasn’t. There was laughter, joy, and sweet memories, too. But as you can imagine, those nine years grew us up big.

For whatever reason North Carolina never became home. I don’t know if I expected it to, really, but I did expect deeper roots. That never happened.
Off and on I prayed for God to get us back to Georgia, and there were times I thought it might happen, but then it didn’t and I resolved that I’d live in North Carolina the rest of my life. One person even told me, when I told her we’d definitely retire in Georgia, “No you won’t. Your girls will grow up here, marry, and have kids, and you’ll be here the rest of your life.” I knew she was probably right. The thought left a deep pit in my stomach and tears in my eyes. I wanted to go home.
So through a serious on unexpected, sad, and unpredictable events (a story for another post), here we are, back in Georgia, living in my husband’s childhood home (which is also another story for another post).

But back to this blog. I started blogging in 2008. Yep, that’s right. I can’t believe it. And this blog has morphed many times. I wrote about our early married years, the heart transplant, as a ministry to single women, and then more about raising girls. I love writing, and I love blogging even though the industry has changed a lot since 2008. (As a matter of fact, blogging wasn’t even an industry in 2008. It was just a thing. That’s how long it’s been!)
So I’m going to keep writing here, but I’m going to possibly break all the rules I’ve learned and write about whatever I want to write about, whenever I have time to write it. They tell you not to do that.
You’ll see a hodge-podge of topics including the story of the house we just moved into – my husband’s childhood home which is a Victorian built in 1900.
Also, you may have noticed that it’s no longer Triple Braided Life. I changed the blog name to just my name – BrendaRodgers.com. And there’s a new Facebook page, too, so be sure to go there and click “Like” to get updates on your Facebook feed.
This kind of schizophrenic blogging might not be for all of you, but I’d love for you to read along if you find something of interest!
So there you go. The end of summer and the start of a new home and a new-ish blog! Happy fall, y’all!! (Or if you’re in Georgia happy continuation of summer. It was 90 degrees here today!)
